Appeal

Children from marginalised communities often lack access to quality education and safe, joyful spaces to play, learn and thrive. At The Opentree Foundation (TOF), we envision bridging these diverse learning gaps through the transformative power of Play.

Our Life Skills Play Programmes nurture children’s abilities to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, think critically, solve problems creatively and develop emotional resilience. These 21st century skills enable children to make positive life choices, overcome challenges and grow into well-rounded adults.

With over two decades of experience in implementing Play Programmes, TOF has seen how play-based learning can truly level the field for children, regardless of the school environment they belong to. Play creates equal opportunities for growth, unlocking potential that traditional methods often leave behind.

Funds raised through the TMM will go directly towards sustaining and expanding our Life Skills Play Programmes across Mumbai and rural Maharashtra. This includes play-based materials, training of facilitators and programme delivery in schools and community spaces where children need it most.

The beneficiary group has a near-equal representation of boys and girls and includes children enrolled in government and low-income private schools, as well as those engaged through community-based organisations, Anganwadis, and child-care institutions. Teachers and educators working with these children are also indirect beneficiaries through TOF’s Life Skills Play Programmes.

TOF’s interventions create joyful play-based learning environments that strengthen children’s life, social, and emotional skills, while also supporting teachers to integrate play into their classrooms.
