The Charutar Arogya Mandal, a registered Trust has been managing the Shree Krishna Hospital, a 1000-bed patient care cum teaching hospital located at the birth place of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The hospital, with its modern facilities and professional services, has been able to serve the community and live up to the credo, "Solace for the Suffering", envisioned by its founder Chairman H.M. Patel.
The hospital’s unique facility the ‘Aashirwad’ has earmarked 650 out of its 1000 beds makes all indoor services available to the patients without any charge (includes consultation, stay and patient meals along with high concessions on pharmacy and procedures). The only payment a patient is required to make is for medicines and consumables.
With the motive to extend quality healthcare even if the person can’t afford, institute has various welfare schemes, these are placing a large financial burden on Mandal’s resources, approx INR 55 crores, for last financial year. In addition, to ensure the quality of treatment with minimum suffering to the patients it is a continuous requirement to upgrade the medical equipment, bring-in advance tools and medicines for quick and effective impact and also to meet the running expenses.
Appeal
The Hospital, a tertiary care centre, receives a number of complicated cases of small children, from neonates to children, directly as well as through referrals from private practitioners and smaller hospitals. These cases come with conditions quite serious and require admissions – at times for a prolonged duration – at the Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Units of the hospital.
Charutar Arogya Mandal supplements and tries to fulfill the requirement for treatment of the neonate and pediatric patients through the Shree Krishna Hospital with the objective of alleviating hardship and suffering of the disadvantaged rural population and their families living in rural and urban areas through health-care solutions for the neonates and paediatric patients without any discrimination of caste, creed, region, or religion. As a matter of policy, not a single patient is turned away for want of money. After interacting with the proposed beneficiary and family members, the hospital based Concession team taking down socio-economic details of the beneficiary .
Patient's treatment is monitored by the doctor. Patients regular visits/follow-up to the hospital for treatment is ensured by concession unit. A contribution of INR 10 lakhs could save the life of around 40 indigent paediatric patients.
