In 2022, 13 million children aged 10-14 in India lived in poverty, making up 30% of the world’s poor children. One in 10 child laborers globally is from India, and many face unimaginable challenges—lack of education, healthcare, gender inequality, and violence.
At Vardhishnu, we are committed to turning this around. We pursue two goals: creating safe spaces for children through community learning centers and empowering young grassroots leaders through an incubation program to spread this impact.
Our learning spaces called as Anandghar nurtures reading and writing comprehension, inculcate age-appropriate life-skills, works on health & physical wellbeing while investing parents, community members, schools and society at large in the wellbeing of children. This holistic approach has helped us lift 750+ children out of poverty, enrolling them in school with a 92% retention rate, taking 95% children out of the clutches of substance consumption and end child marriage in the intervention areas.
Community Collectives, a unique one-year incubation program designed to equip grassroot leaders working with children with the skills, resources, and visibility they need to scale their impact through residential workshops, field visits, webinar and follow-up calls. In last 4 years we’ve partnered with 34 leaders across six states, helping them run 65+ safe spaces and positively impacting over 6,000 children.
