Universal Versatile Society (UVS) is an organization accredited by UNEP and UNCCD, holding a Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. We are a non-political, non-communal, non-profit voluntary social organization registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 (Bombay Act No. 29 of 1950) by the authority of the Assistant Registrar of Societies in the Akola region of Maharashtra, India.

Since our inception, UVS has been actively involved in Ecovillage building to tackle issues related to the environment, education, agriculture, energy consumption, mental health, and women's empowerment through community participation in Washim District, Maharashtra. Our work is supported by thorough fieldwork, research, and monitoring of each activity undertaken. By collecting pertinent data, we strive to raise awareness and present ideas to the community through various awareness drives. The organization has successfully established numerous initiatives across Washim District. The foundation of our organization rests on a simple principle: "Making Living Sustainable," which guides all our activities.

Appeal

We are working in farmer's suicide prone region of western Vidarbha where every eight hours one farmer commit suicide. This project aims to aid farmers in depression, their relatives and others struggling with mental health problems in Vidarbha region. Initiating rehabilitation and counselling centre with face-to-face treatment for patients may help to reduce the farmer's suicide crisis in Vidarbha. This project may help to tackle several problems including; lack of treatment, lack of resources and facilities for the mentally ill and social discrimination against those suffering depression problems.

This project will help to improve the mental health of patients in Vidarbha to promote understanding, reduce stigma and help individuals lift themselves out of the impacts of poor mental health especially for those who don't have resources and enough knowledge. Treatment options, support groups, knowledge of mental health & inclusion in society can be greatly achieved through rehabilitation center which will help our society to get rid of farmer suicide crisis in Vidarbha.

This project aims to rehabilitate hundreds and thousands of mentally retarded and depressed patients to gain good state of mental health and avail the opportunities to succeed in life.
