“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” - Malcolm X
I am running the Tata marathon for the second time, and I am supporting Concern India Foundation to promote education.
The reason that this is important is that one-third of illiterate people on Earth are Indian. Many of the various issues we Indians face today- including poverty, lack of hygiene, corruption, rape, religious violence and police brutality, can be traced back to this- many people have never been educated enough to earn a living, know the importance of sanitisation, see things from different points of view or understand their basic human rights. In order for India to process and develop as a country, not just the government, but the civilians they are governing need to be educated and capable of making logical and informed decisions. I urge you to donate generously to this cause, as it is one that not only affects us in the present but has the power to shape our future .
