For every Indian child like me who is lucky enough to have grown up in a protected environment, there is a child whose innocence has been snatched away from them for no fault of their own. 53% of our country's future(200 million children) have had to to endure a horrific act that is very hard to recover from - abuse. Just to put that inconceivable number in context - Australia has roughly 25 million people. Even more shocking is the fact that only 4-8% of the incidents are reported. And for every hour that we sit idle, four children are sexually abused. Four children who's lives remain scarred from then on, every single hour. Without adequate counselling, abuse victims often never fully recover from the traumatic experience. Your contribution to the HEAL organization will help them provide therapy and support to sexual abuse survivors. It will also help us spread awareness about Child Sexual Abuse among children, parents, teachers and staff in schools through workshops. These workshops train people on how to understand and prevent abuse. As people privileged with the means and resources, I believe it is our duty to come together and help those in need.
