Close to 1 million youngsters turn 18 every month, of whom an overwhelming 50% do not complete high school. What then happens to these young minds? Some are forced in labor, and others are married off and impregnated at a young age. These conditions lead them vulnerable to substance abuse, in particular tobacco. Over 1 crore Indian children are estimated to be users of tobacco. There is an urgent need for change. A need for people to work together and help young, underprivileged children achieve their full potential.
Salaam Bombay Foundation is an organisation with the vision to empower children to make the right choices for their health, education and livelihood and commit them to stay in school. They focus on providing education to children who would not otherwise receive it. They emphasize the importance of creating long term benefits for these children, rather than just short term assistance. In fact, their excellent initiatives have helped impact over 45,000 children just between the years 2015-2016! Salaam Bombay aspires to help children build up their self-esteem.
