HEAL stands for Help Eradicate Abuse through Learning and works to create a safe environment for children, one that is free of sexual abuse. This is done through prevention workshops, mental health therapy and advocacy for child rights.
HEAL works with adults as well as children to enable an understanding of the issue and ensure safety.
In the past decade, HEAL has trained over 35,000 individuals across schools, colleges and communities, equipping them to identify the threats and signs of sexual abuse, and teach preventive behaviour. We have also trained a team of 34 trainers who regularly conduct awareness trainings across Mumbai. Through a qualified panel of mental health professionals HEAL has extended therapy to over 60 survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) – both adults and children. Further, we have also built capacities of over 2000 mental health professionals equipping them with required skills to work with survivors in a trauma-informed manner.
Recently, HEAL partnered with UNICEF to study the quality and accessibility of mental health services for survivors of child sexual abuse in Mumbai.
