It is creditable that basti children and youth are participating in Mumbai Marathon to increase awareness about challenges faced and to raise funds for UHRC which supports their all-round development and improve their lives step-by-step. Best wishes to children’s group members running the Tata Mumbai Marathon. May you all make continued efforts to energise your children’s groups in Indore and Agra so that you help other children to get scholarships and continue education.The way Urban Health Resource Centre’s social facilitators gently strengthen, deepen confidence and build self-reliance through knowledge, negotiation and related skills (which are non-perishable competencies) of women's and children’s groups is something that I have observed first hand. It has demonstrated to me the organisation’s foundation building approach among 425,000 slum/vulnerable populations in Indore and Agra rather than distributing any items. During interactions with members of basti women’s and children’s groups in UHRC’s program in Indore and Agra I have observed the fiery sprit in their eyes and heard it in their voice and through efforts they narrated. It has been enthusing to see with my own eyes and listen with my ears the confidence and collective strength of basti women's groups and children's groups in Agra & Indore.
