Dear Friends,
Did you know that over 20% of girls in India drop out of school upon reaching puberty? A far larger percentage start missing school due to their periods and subsequently add to the dropouts. Thus, ends their education and exposure to the outer world. This directly results in child marriage leading to early and repeated pregnancy. Their lack of empowerment makes them susceptible to domestic abuse, violence and virtually every social evil that afflicts women.
FPA India wants to end this vicious circle! Introducing our initiative in the TATA Mumbai Marathon (TMM), 2020:
Through this campaign, we wish to provide young girls with:
Sanitary napkins for a year
Information on menstrual hygiene management
Counseling, preventive health check-ups, and nutrition supplementation
Life skills training and Comprehensive Sexuality Education to negotiate a continuation of formal education and delay the age of marriage
Hence, this time Family Planning Association of India again aims to run for the ‘Let’s girls get back to school’ campaign under the #RUN4FP theme.
I urge you all to help get back the girl children in schools, who are forced to drop out because of their periods. "Help ‘Let’s girls get back to school' campaign.
Your help will change her life.
A donation towards our cause will enable girls to access sanitary napkins with proper information about menstruation hygiene to protect her health, rights, and dignity.
Please donate generously.
