Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024

Close to 1,000,000 youngsters turn 18 every month, of whom an overwhelming 50% do not complete high school. What then happens to these young minds? Some are forced in labour, and others are married off and impregnated at a young age. These conditions lead them vulnerable to substance abuse, in particular tobacco. Over 1 crore (10,000,000) Indian children are estimated to be users of tobacco. There is an urgent need for change. A need for people to work together and help young, underprivileged children achieve their full potential. Salaam Bombay Foundation is an organisation with the vision to empower children to make the right choices for their health, education and livelihood and commit them to stay in school. Salaam Bombay aspires to help children build up their self-esteem. Do you want make a difference to a child’s life? Do you want to help keep a young child away from cigarettes? Please donate to this cause because what's more magical and wondrous than bringing joy in a child's life? Support Salaam Bombay today! About Me
My name is Mihir Parikh and I am 17 years old. I study in the Bombay International School and live in South Mumbai, a city where the rich and the poor live a stone’s throw away from each other. We live in a country where the wealth gap is increasing, and the disconnect between the urban rich and the urban poor is shocking I believe that education is the great uplifter, that it breaks the cycle of poverty. Our public education system may be broken, but relentless effort put in by organisations such as Salaam Bombay ensures that the next generation receives an excellent education. Hence, I believe in raising funds for these foundations.
