“Out-of-school-children likely to double in India due to coronavirus”. This is the stark reality. In this COVID altered world, nowhere has the shift been more evident than in the field of education. Educationists say Blended Learning - online classes + classroom sessions is the only way forward. With the challenges of online learning multiplied exponentially for the under-served, even in this new world order, these children will be left behind. • The longer the gap in learning, the more disinterested they get and eventually exit the education system • Children are being put to work to supplement the household income. We at JA have decided that we will do all that it takes to give our beneficiaries some semblance of stability. To this end, we have started online classes since June 15th. Through these classes we are reaching out to 75% children (18 are in their village). Teachers are reaching out through zoom calls, home made videos, whatsapp videos, phone calls, sms etc. basically any way through which a child can be reached. To meet their nutritional needs, through JA’s Food Drive, we also distributed ration to all the childrens’ families. Challenges are a plenty ranging from lack of easy accessibility to smart devices to no devices to no net connection. But we press on. And your contribution will help us make a bigger difference
