Our country is facing a humanitarian crisis that is growing by the day. The lockdown caused by COVID 19 has led to thousands of migrant workers trying to return home in their villages even if it meant walking hundreds of kilometers on foot, along dangerous routes. These desperate groups of migrants include young children and infirm and ailing old people. The journey they are undertaking is without adequate food, water, rest, or even footwear to help them walk. Many will simply not survive this ordeal if something is not done for them immediately.
We have a lot to be thankful for. More importantly, we're in a position where we can make a difference. I am supporting the United Way Mumbai’s “Help People Get Home” program that is working on emergency response measures to address the migrants crisis. They will be working with other charities to set up relief camps for food and medical aid, while simultaneously arranging for transport and documentation help so people can get home safely. This is an opportunity for us to show our support for these migrants and let them know that they are not alone. Please contribute and support my fundraising for the United Way Mumbai “Help People Get Home” program, for which I would be immensely thankful.
