In 2015, we determined to support underprivileged Thalassemic children. Having experienced Thalassemia in our family, we realised the additional financial burden that low income families face. From here started our journey in partnering with Think Foundation (www.thinkfoundation.org). Thanks to all of you - our donors and supporters over these past few years - Think Foundation has worked to improve the quality of life of children and families managing Thalassemia. Your contributions, over the last 4 years, have helped us raise close to ₹50,00,000 (US$70K). This has helped fund new daycare centres in Jalna, Latur, Aurangabad, Parbhani, Chandrapur and expanded centres in Mumbai. The Foundation's milestones include: - Opening of the Borivali Comprehensive Thalassemia Care Centre in partnership with BMC and Tata Trusts - Conducting workshops and medical camps in Goa and Ranchi Other activities carried out by the Foundation include: - Regular blood donation camps - Thalassemia Minor screening camps - Stem cell registry camps - HLA typing camps This year with your support we hope to: - Fund bone marrow transplants, currently the only permanent cure for Thalassemia. Each surgery costs about Rs 9 lakh, where Rs 6 lakh is covered by Tata Trust and BMC. - Support HLA typing to identify eligible bone marrow donors - Continue to cover the medical expenses of 100 children across all centres - Support life-saving chelation treatment that helps removes iron overload in the blood
