Hello. I am m Sucharita Santra, a blood cancer survivor. I will be running the Tata Mumbai Marathon Dream Run to raise funds to support children with cancer for CanKids KidsCan, The National Society For Change For Childhood Cancer In India. And need your help to achieve the same.
Coming from a middle class family in Howrah, West Bengal. I used to be the most cheerful, carefree girl in my family, and my dreams were coming true as I started going to college and made new friends. But then, In 2017 unexpected back pain turned my world upside down. Doctors discovered acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and my family was devastated, we couldn't understand what to do next. Then I was transferred to NRS hematological department, where my journey to recovery began with the help of my doctors and CanKids.
Despite the hardships and uncertainty, I found strength in my family's determination to help me heal. As I received treatments and support from my doctors and cankids, I learned to face my diagnosis with courage. I didn't want to break my parents' spirits, so I stayed strong and embraced this new chapter in my life. Gradually, I underwent chemotherapy with a positive spirit. After completing 2 years of my treatment, I have completed my college degree.
As a cancer survivor I've learnt to appreciate the beauty of life. Now I want to cherish every bit of it and everything is possible just because of my parents, doctors, CanKids and others who have supported me in this journey.
I am proud to share that I am participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) in the dream run category with 19 other cancer survivors, like me and our goal extends beyond personal achievements. We are dedicated to raising funds to support children fighting cancer, and this year, I have set a target of a 31000 Rs.
I am reaching out to friends, family, and colleagues, urging them to contribute whatever they can to this cause. Every contribution, no matter how small, will play a crucial role in saving the lives of children battling cancer. Your support is not just a donation it's a step towards saving a child's life.
