Hello, I am Koustab Bhattacharya an AML Blood Cancer survivor. I will be running the Tata Mumbai Marathon Dream Run to raise funds to support children with cancer for CanKids KidsCan, The National Society For Change For Childhood Cancer In India. And need your help to achieve the same.
I was 12 years old when I was first diagnosed with cancer. I was very scared at first. Then on March 3, 2014, I was admitted to NRS , a big hospital in Kolkata. I was observed by under Dr. Tufan Kanti Dolai. Then my treatment started from the first day. Then I had a bone marrow test, the long channel was done, blood, medicine and chemo went into the whale's body through this channel. I started chemo and on the 1st chemo I had really bad chest pains, headaches, vomiting, then all my hair started falling out. Physically the first two months were very difficult. I had about 4 liquid chemo rimmings. Along with Oral Chemo was going on, there were many problems even after Chemotherapy like mouth ulcers, black nails etc….
Finally I am fully healthy and recovered since 2017. Now I can live life like before. Only because of the doctor's treatment I was able to recover completely. The most emotional and financial support I got during this time was from my mother, father and my maternal uncle and maternal aunty and CanKids.
I am proud to share that I am participating in the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM) in the dream run category with 19 other cancer survivors, like me and our goal extends beyond personal achievements. We are dedicated to raising funds to support children fighting cancer, and this year, I have set a target of a 31000 Rs.
I am reaching out to friends, family, and colleagues, urging them to contribute whatever they can to this cause.
