Hi,
As a kid, I was always excited and looked forward to reading and having all sorts of story books and I am sure most of you were too. The joy of creating and travelling through the imaginations while reading the story book, sharing it with our siblings and friends, adding it to our dream books collection and so many memories connected to it.
Books of course are uniquely portable magic, I truly believe they are important for the mind, heart and soul, and would like every child to experience this joy and magic of reading. However, not every kid can afford to have access to books of their own. Hence, I am doing as little as possible by participating in TATA Mumbai Marathon'24 Dream Run to contribute towards United Way Mumbai Let's READ campaign. I am also bringing my family, friends and well-wishers together to support this great cause. Hence, I am fundraising and looking forward for your contribution towards this campaign which will gift children’s books, reading
journals, pen, and bags.
As Jawaharlal Nehru rightly said, 'Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow'. So, let's come together and make tangible difference towards a better society, our future and for our happy, innocent and curious minds.
Support the Let’s READ Campaign and make a difference!!
Let's READ is United Way Mumbai's nationwide initiative, which aims to nurture a love for books and reading among children who cannot afford access to books of their own. For many children living in marginalized communities in India, owning a set of books is a distant dream. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to discover the wonder and joy of books.
Over the next few months, United Way Mumbai will bring together NGOs, companies and citizens with a heart to:
- Gift a set of 5 beautifully illustrated children's books to 10,000 children
- Gift 100 mini libraries (comprising 125 books each) to NGOs working with children from marginalized communities.
The books will be curated keeping in mind the age, language proficiency and reading levels of the children. In addition to gifting books and libraries, we will also
- Gift 100 mini libraries (comprising 125 books each) to NGOs working with children from marginalized communities.
- Conduct book reading sessions by children's authors.
- Facilitate workshops for NGO staff on reading skills and making books come alive for children of all ages.
