Karunya Trust a Non- Governmental Organization, registered in 1998 under the Bombay Public Trust 1950 (Reg. No. E- 18021). Karunya Trust set its spectrum of activities through multi-ethnic and multi-religious cooperative efforts. The formation of Karunya Trust aims at providing a 'safety net to poor', particularly disadvantaged children like street children, rag picking children, HIV/ AIDS affected children, tribal children & women. Major thrust areas of Karunya Trust are Education, Livelihood, Health, Environment issues, Women empowerment & Governance. Karunya Trust implement the above thrust areas based on the following core values: Sanctity of human life, Human Rights and Human Dignity, Dignity of Women, Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers, Option for the Poor, Solidarity, Respect to Ecology and Environment, Civilization of Love, Culture of Peace, Justice, Freedom, and Fellowship. Karunya Trust is implementing 12 social projects, seven in urban and seven in rural areas of Maharashtra catering to 24, 000 individuals spread over in Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Nasik districts, out of which 3600 are less privileged children. Other than these projects there are 36 nodal centers which are actively involved in supporting the educational and health needs of the marginalized.
