There are 200+ million learners in India, and a majority of the girl students will never return to school and most likely be married off. These not-yet-18-year-old girls will continue to face intergenerational injustice of deprived opportunities in education, health, employment and independence. Early marriages will result in these young girls becoming mothers before they are fully developed, thereby increasing the incidence of birthing underweight and anaemic children. It has become critical to mobilise the power of the communities to create enabling situations for these adolescent girls and children to reach their full potential with increased access to education, health, skilling and employment opportunities. For this to happen, we must all combine forces to eliminate hunger and hidden hunger among children. Every child deserves a good life and future, and we all need to PLEDGE: NO CHILD IS LEFT BEHIND due to hunger.
