“All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince.
The unfortunate reality of victims of CSA (Child Sexual Abuse) is outlined via this quote. Victims of this early trauma in life remember it forever it haunts them in their dreams it follows them, like a ghost of the former things they've been through. Such affected people are also disproportionately linked with higher rates of Mental disease, PTSD, and Suicide.
For a few statistics, 2 thirds of Indian children experience CSA, Victims of CSA SELF REPORT to using mental health services 3.65 MORE times than the average person. To put that into perspective, that means that people who have VOULANTARILY reported having been victims (Which is highly stigmatized) and getting mental health help (Which is also highly stigmatized) 365% more than the average person. In addition to this, 22% of Females and 11% of Male CSA victims show suicidal tendencies. After reading this statement I implore you to read it again with the knowledge that there are over 450 million children in India, I implore you, I beg you please just do the math.
Even after all this, In India, a country of over 1.4 Billion people, there are only really 5-6 NGOs working on this issue. Even after all this we continue to stigmatize and shun those who have experienced CSA, we refuse to listen to help in any way.
After reading all this you are probably asking yourself. How can I help?
EDUCATION. THERAPY. PREVENTION.
All actions taken by the charity I'm raising for HEAL.
