53% of Indian children experience sexual abuse before the age of 18. 109 children were sexually abused every day, according to a 2018 report. The eradication of Child sexual abuse should be a top priority. Child sexual abuse is a significant public health problem and an adverse childhood experience. Experiencing child sexual abuse can affect how a person thinks, acts, and feels over a lifetime. Child sexual abuse can harm a child’s physical health through physical injuries, long-term chronic medical conditions and mental health leading to issues like depression and PTSD. Additionally, victims of child sexual abuse may experience social/behavioral consequences like substance abuse and suicide. HEAL (Help Eradicate Abuse Through Learning), is a Mumbai-based NGO working in the area of child sexual abuse. HEAL has conducted over 800 sessions to create awareness about CSA. They have indirectly impacted over 4.5 lakhs of people. CSA is heartbreaking and repulsive. No child should have to go through the trauma that was never their fault to begin with. We, the students of The Cathedral & John Conan School, are collecting funds for the fight against CSA. Your donation, big or small, will help us raise funds for HEAL.
