Hi! I am Maitri Varaiya, a 13-year-old student from the Cathedral and John Connon School. With the aid of HEAL, I aim to contribute to the eradication and reduction of child sexual abuse. According to a 2003 National Institute of Justice research, 3 out of 4 teenagers who have experienced sexual assault were abused by someone they knew well. Every year, 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys are victims of child sexual abuse. Because it is frequently not reported, it is impossible to gauge the prevalence of child sexual abuse; experts concur that the incidence is significantly higher than what is disclosed to authorities. I want to generate enough money to support this cause's awareness-raising efforts. Many youngsters must deal with this horrible event as well as the ongoing worry of abuse. I started this fundraising campaign in order to try and support individuals and NGOs in their efforts to educate people about child sexual abuse. Despite the fact that I have the good fortune to have never experienced sexual assault, I still want to do my part to aid those who have since I know how painful it must be for them. Because of this, I want to do everything in my power to see that those who have experienced abuse receive the support they need. I also want HEAL to keep spreading to both children and adults, therefore I sincerely hope you will contribute to my fundraising; even a small amount will help a lot.
