Hello! I am Aisha Doshi and this year I will be joining HEAL ( Help Eradicate Abuse Through Learning) by raising funds and running in the Tata Marathon as a part of their fight against sexual abuse. HEAL is a Mumbai- based NGO working in the area of sexual abuse since 2008. It is most disheartening to know that 50% of children in India face abuse and leave them without a future they deserve. It is completely unfair for children as old as I am to be a victim to child abuse and lose out on their childhood and so many opportunities in their future. I have grown up in a household that has taught me the importance of education and health a child must receive and most importantly the happiness any child must experience in these years of their life. This is why I have thought of HEAL as a campaign to support. HEAL through their awareness workshops on child abuse and body safety, aims to equip adults and recognise and deal with child abuse, integrate a sense of body safety and help survivors as best as they can. With its efforts, HEAL visualises to create a safe spaces like homes, schools and communities that can help in avoiding the horrors of sexual abuse to children. As a part of the Cathedral and John Connon School, I am grateful to be given the opportunity to learn about this campaign, donate and raise funds against this dreadful cause. You too could help change an innocent child’s life with your efforts. The donation funds will be used to enhance HEAL’s growth and help children by educating as many as possible and help raise a voice against this horror.
