Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024
My name is Maithili Deorah. I am in class 10 at Cathedral and John Connon School. I am running the TATA AIG marathon to support HEAL(Help Eradicate Through Leaning), an NGO based in Mumbai fighting against child sexual abuse since 2008. Over 50 percent of the children in India experience at least one form of sexual abuse before they turn 18. It is therefore extremely important for us to understand the reality of this situation, and help survivors in the best way they can. The vision is to consciously create safe spaces that can help in avoiding the horrors that a sexually abusive experience can bring about for children. Therefore we, the children of our school are joining HEAL in their fight against child sexual abuse. You too can be a part of our efforts. About Me
My name is Maithili Deorah, and I am a 15-year-old studying at Cathedral and John Connon School. As a student of my school, I am trying to give back to the community with this small project which means a lot to me. All of us aim to achieve a safe country, and provide a childhood, that some of us were lucky enough to have, to the ones that may not have been able to have had. Unfortunately, there are several children affected by child sexual abuse, and we will not stand by this. I believe no on should suffer like this. We will give back to future generations, and in this goal, I invite you to help us by joining this journey to help ensure a safe future, for every child who aspires to become something today.
