Child sexual abuse (CSA) is something that is not talked about openly in society. anything to do with it is kept a secret and is seen to be a shameful thing. What's worse is that the abusers are not the ones feeling ashamed. it is the victims and their families who feel the guilt. It takes years for the victims to heal just about 20%. The long term effects of sexual abuse can be devastating to a child. Children who have experienced CSA are more likely to develop depression, drug addiction, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and could also display suicidal ideations. HEAL creates a dialogue between parents and teachers to address the myths surrounding sexual abuse and also to help them deal with any situation of abuse faced by children. For a child, parents and teachers are the two sets of adults whom he/she can trust and seek support from. Thus it places an immense responsibility in their hands of protecting them. HEAL also provides rehab programs for CSA survivors. One of their main objectives is to sensitize with a view to influence decisions or policies developed by our government with regards to child sexual abuse. HEAL has already conducted 800+ sessions to create awareness of child sexual abuse and indirectly impacted over 4.5 lakh people.
