HEAL (Help Eradicate Abuse Through Learning) is a Mumbai-based NGO working in the area of child sexual abuse since 2008. Nearly half the children population in India have gone through sexual abuse. This can not go on. Children are the future of the nation. If they are robbed of their childhoods and scarred for life, then there is no hope. There is an article about child sexual abuse in the newspaper almost everyday. Few victims of sexual abuse end their lives because of trauma and because they have not been given the support to cope with it. 97% of the cases are concerning a person known to the child and so this destroys the child's trust in that person and his/her innocence. A child deserves to live his/her childhood to the fullest. Taking it away is a sin. We can end this by educating as many people as we can to recognize situations of child sexual abuse. The HEAL Foundation conducts workshops for parents and children to teach them about these problems and make them aware of all possible situations and how to avoid them.
