The vision is to ensure that all children be independent life-long learners who strive towards being self-aware, caring and responsible individuals. The cost of providing quality education to children at Chirag School is Rs. 28,000/child/year. The parents pay Rs. 150/month which covers less than 10% of the cost. In times of the pandemic, like most of the world, the Chirag School is facing unprecedented challenges. It is a continuous struggle to ensure that learning for the children continues. Limited or no internet connectivity at the teacher's and at the children’s end has forced the school to come up with innovative solutions. The teachers have been hand-delivering (and collecting back) lessons and assignments to the surrounding villages. Now the teachers are planning to travel to a village a day, and hold lessons in the open under the winter sun maintaining social distancing. If the students can’t come to the school, the school will go to the students. At Chirag School, the children are encouraged to be fearless and curious while being empathetic and respectful towards others. CHIRAG school caters to students from nursery until grade 5, with each class consisting of 17 students. The institution maintains an ideal teacher:student ratio of 1:8, with 10 teachers (including the principal), 3 support staff and a bevy of volunteers who are available to teach and interact with the students throughout the year.
