Ever since corona virus hit India, we have been witnessing the heart wrenching struggles of migrants and daily wagers around us. This pandemic has created a huge economic setback for them. Along with this, there has been a great increase in Human Trafficking. United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) launched a research brief on 14 May 2020, which stated that COVID-19 measures may likely lead to an increase in cross-border trafficking and human smuggling.
At Oasis India, our mission is to prevent human trafficking and other forms of violence against women and children and to help each person to flourish within their community. In order to do this Oasis runs projects and initiatives under six core areas – Prevention, Education, Sports, Rehabilitation, Skilling and Community Building. The present skilling activities include training in vocational skills like Hair styling, Tailoring, Patient care & Baking. Oasis also runs an employment readiness program that includes Teaching English & Computer for the youth in the community.

About Me

I’m raising support for women from our communities who are daily wagers and are now living without any income. Traffickers find vulnerable people in need and groom them for being trafficked. Several women and young girls are at-risk and fall prey to traffickers who offer immediate economic support and false promises of well-paid jobs in a distant city or country. Our mission is to provide for the needs of these women and their families during this pandemic which in turn protects them from potential traffickers.
