‘CanKids…KidsCan’ works towards providing best standards of treatment care and support services for children with cancer and their families from the moment of diagnosis through treatment and after into survivorship on the one hand and palliative care, terminal & bereavement support on the other. The organization aims to provide holistic support to families of children with cancer under its signature model, the YANA – You are not Alone Program that is delivered through CanKids Hospital Support Units and CanKids Care Centres, at hospitals where children and being treated for cancer. The children at CanKids suffer some of the worst medical conditions in the world. Here are some statistics about children afflicted with cancer in India every year: No of new cases: 75,000 No of kids that CanKids can afford to support: 8,000 Cost per new case/year: INR 25,000 Cancer can be equally, if not more, distressing for the family, profoundly affecting both the family's daily functioning and economic situation. The economic shock often includes both the loss of income and the expenses associated with health care costs. CanKids goes above and beyond just paying for their treatments and medical expenses...they become family and love and support them in all aspects from the beginning to the end.
