I have grown up at a childcare institution (CCI) for a major part of my life. My dream is to become a National level Kabbadi player. Currently, I am playing with a club and soon I will play for the District level Kabbadi matches. Children like me residing at CCI’s have to leave the CCI at the age of 18. At that age, none of us has the confidence, adequate skills or any job training which can help us take up jobs and start earning to support ourselves. It is a big challenge for us and something that most of us have struggled with. Catalysts for Social Action (CSA) has been helping youngsters like me pursue some form of skill training or higher education, so we can get a job, take care of our expenses & continue further education. With CSA's help, I was able to complete my 10th Grade and also learn Kabbadi simultaneously. Now my aim is to study further and appear for my 12th Grade examinations. I have been fortunate to receive CSA’s support. However, there are many youngsters like me whose lives can change for the better with some support. I am running the 10 Km race at Tata Mumbai Marathon in January 2020 & my goal is to raise INR 5,00,000 to help others in a similar situation so we can achieve our career goals and have a more empowered and independent future to look forward to.
