Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024

Born and bought up in the slums of Ambedkar Nagar in Mumbai , the community where I lived was my whole world. Being a girl I was taught that my only dream should be to follow my mothers footsteps ...to be a maid and contribute towards the income of the house. But, I dared to dream big, different and OSCAR Foundation gave me the platform to aim high. My teachers and the coaches encouraged me to continue my education and passion in sports despite all difficulties and hardship at home and resistance from my community. I want to become a Police Officer. I have already taken steps towards my goal and have joined in my neighbourhood police station as a home guard. I took part in the TATA Mumbai Marathon 2019 and was adjudged as one of the winners in the 10K category with a timing on 44:34. My goal this year is to complete my run in less than 30 minutes. I dedicate my run to the many girls in my community who do not have a voice of their own! Through the funds I raise I want give wings to the dreams of many more girls like me who are caught in the shackles of poverty, patriarchy and child marriage.
