I’m participating in the 2020 Tata Mumbai Marathon to raise funds for clean sanitation facilities for children in rural areas. Several rural schools have insufficient and unhygienic toilets, making it difficult for children going to school especially girls. All donations are exempt under section 80 G of Income Tax 1961 With the goal of making India open-defecation free by 2019, the NDA government launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) programme in 2014. Under the programme, people living below and above poverty line can avail reimbursement for constructing toilets at household level. The programme has given a huge impetus to nationwide toilet building exercise. I, Shreya Sanghvi, a student pursuing BBA-Branding and Advertising from NMIMS is keen to work on an aim of installing proper sanitation facilities in rural areas. Lack of proper information about sanitation programme can impact the most marginalised people. For example, women-headed households may lack access to the information about the process of applying for subsidies to build toilets. A small contribution today , will make a big difference Tomorrow!!
