I am supporting the Nargis Dutt foundation because of the difference they’ve already managed to make in rural India— what with enhancing hygiene, providing extra classrooms and setting up e-learning facilities for underprivileged students. I, along with my team, will be working on raising funds to support Women Empowerment by giving tailoring machines to 20 women — our goal being approx. 1.5 lakhs. Living in India, we’ve all seen or experienced patriarchy in some way or form. For ages now, women all around have been denied privileges + opportunities in the name of religious and/or cultural taboos. Even with the developing society, people still tend to cling to their old, outdated beliefs! It’s high time that women get to earn their rightful place in society without having to fight tooth and nail for every single penny! In however small a way, Nargis Dutt foundation will be helping bring about this change by donating 20 Tailoring Machines to women in Rural Maharastra to earn their own living and independence— by learning and teaching to sew + selling the finished products. No longer will these women have to live under the shadows of the men in their families for their livelihood.
