Dear Friends, Few people are aware about a startling fact in India; over 20% of girls drop out of school upon reaching puberty. A far larger percentage start missing school due to their periods and subsequently add to the drop outs. Thus, ends their education and exposure to the outer world. This directly results in child marriage leading to early and repeated pregnancy. Their lack of empowerment makes them susceptible to domestic abuse, violence and virtually every social evil that afflicts women. FPA India wants to end this vicious circle! This year we look forward to: - ENHANCE access to sanitary napkins and adolescent-friendly health services - EMPOWER girls with life skills education and livelihood opportunities - ENABLE communities to create a safe environment for girls - EDUCATE parents to reduce gender discrimination Your contribution of Rs 1920/- can support one young girl with: • A year’s supply of sanitary napkins • Information on menstrual hygiene management • Counselling, preventive health check-ups, and nutrition supplementation • Life skills training and Comprehensive Sexuality Education to negotiate continuation of formal education and delay the age of marriage We want to see the day where not one girl has to miss a single day of school simply because she is becoming a woman and doesn’t have a way to effectively manage the change. We humbly seek your support in our mission to Get Girls Back to School through TMM 2020. Email us at: RUN4FP@fpaindia.org.

About Me
I work as the General Manager - State Lead Jharkhand(FPAI- Jharkhand), at FPA India. I support FPA India's cause to 'Get Girls Back To School' as many girls have to discontinue their education merely because they cannot afford a sanitary napkin. When they drop out, they have no formal education in order to earn a living for themselves and hence are married off and become financially dependent on their families, who in turn do not prioritise the girl's physical well-being and needs. Early marriage can also lead to early pregnancy and lead in maternal mortalities. This is commonly seen especially in the state in Jharkhand state. To bring about a change, FPA India has taken the first step towards empowerment of girls and women and I support it
