Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024

42% of India's land area is under drought affecting nearly 500 million people. In rural India, a woman walks 7 to 20 km a day just to fetch water. They do this by carrying pots or vessel on their head and make multiple trips. This takes up all their time, creates health issues (as it impacts the back, neck, and knees) and leads to unnecessary stress. Carrying pots of water, every day, for a lifetime is painful. To solve the difficulty of access to potable water, Habitat for Humanity India provides water wheels to families to solve this drudgery forever. The water wheel is a simple, low cost, high impact initiative that allows them to carry a large volume of water with minimal effort. This saves them time, energy and is a game-changer in rural areas. When you support the Water Wheels for Women campaign, you will help Habitat for Humanity India raise funds for women in drought-prone districts of Maharashtra and i. eliminate the burden of head loading for women and make fetching water a painless exercise. ii. creates social change as men step forward and use the water wheel to get water for the family. About Me
I'm Janav, a resident of Mumbai. I'm studying in JBCN International School in Parel in grade 10th. I have a keen interest in doing something which is of social help to people so, I have chosen the 'Water Wheel' campaign focusing on rural people, mainly women to help them carry water easily.
