Sangli Mission Society, established in 1990, carries out various programs and projects with the purpose of lasting improvements and sustainable development of the disadvantaged and marginalized section of society in Maharashtra mainly in four districts; Sangli, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri. It has engaged in various activities like formal education, special education, community based rehabilitation, community development, women empowerment, health care, environmental protection, protection of sustainable agriculture and livelihood programs. Beginning in the first week of August 2019, severe floods affected the southern Maharashtra. Sangli and Kolhapure are the two states which badly affected by the flood. There was massive water logging and flood which lasted for almost ten days. From 15th August the Sangli Mission Society started doing flood relief in collaboration with Government department, NGOs and community people after identifying the need of the people. The organization conducted a survey for the need assessment at the flood affected villages. On the basis of the survey we got to realize the beneficiaries. We were able to distribute food items, hygiene materials, utensils and educational materials in different villagers, so far 2654 people got benefited. We are providing help to the affected marginalized communities through various sustainable interventions.
