Dear Friends,
We shudder to hear the grim data about violence against women in India today. We all know at least one young girl or woman who has suffered from bullying, harassment or other more sinister forms of violence at home, in schools or colleges, in workplaces or in their own neighbourhoods.
Eliminating gender-based violence is a priority, given that this is one of the most pervasive human rights violations in the world today.
But what can young people like me do about this?
I am raising funds for the Family Planning Association of India, one of India’s most respected voluntary organizations. These funds will go towards strengthening the campaign launched by FPA India to “Break the silence against Gender Based Violence” .By participating in the TATA Mumbai Marathon, 2019, FPA India aims to raise resources and mobilize supporters for preventing and mitigating Gender Based Violence through:
• Sensitization of communities
• Access to care and support for women in need
• Empowering young women with life skills training to say ‘no’ to violence
A donation of INR 1830/- towards this cause will enable one woman to access information and skills to reduce her vulnerability to gender based violence and access counselling, basic care and support when in need, to protect her health, rights and dignity.
Please donate generously so that we can help create a happy and safe environment for ourselves, our friends and millions of girls and women living in India.
