The motto for the Nargis Dutt foundation is "life matters". This is relevant to the initiative I have pledged to support: "Aashayein" it provides tribal women with a chance to add value to their lives by teaching them skills such as stitching and sewing to empower them. A skill as simple as that can go on to become a family's only source of steady income which will be used to pay for the education of their children, food and electricity. Aashayein’s first project was undertaken in Sonave, a village located in Maharashtra. In Sonave around 200 tribal women were taught how to make bags, blouses, frocks and salwar kameez in a skill analysis workshop. Women from this workshop were then able to earn a livelihood and find employment using the skills they acquired. One of the best ways to fight poverty is to educate women and provide them with economic opportunity. By donating your money to the Nargis Dutt foundation, your money will be used to further the women empowerment initiative through Aashayein to bring hope and meaning to the lives of women who are not as privileged as you and me.
