Adhar is a Lifetime Home for specially abled adults –those with intellectual disabilities. Adhar’s vision is to reach out to parents of intellectually disabled adults and provide a life-time home for their special children. Adhar was founded in 1990 by the visionary practitioner sociologist Mr Madhavrao Gore, with support from Parents of Intellectually Disabled Adults. The first batch of residents came in on January 17, 1994. Adhar is thus now celebrating 25 years of service to the Society on Thu 17th January 2019 – just three days prior to TMM 2K19!!!. It has been a pioneer and has grown to be one of the largest In India and perhaps in the World, with about 350 residents and 250 employees at 2 locations. Adhar has built its expertise in intellectually disabled adult care, through years of handling large scale and complex special needs. Adhar provides expert care with the help of Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Medical Officers, Social Workers, Trained Teachers, Care Takers and other Office Staff. Adhar’s employees are professionally trained, stable, committed and dedicated to their wards.
