NSVK’’s vision is to "Support changes in the life of socially and economically deprived communities by building active partnership with them in a spirit of transparency and sensitivity, pursuing an ideal of overall sustainable development of society." Their work concentrates mainly on 5 areas, Child rights and protection, Tuberculosis control, Prevention of substance abuse, Economic development & Empowerment of the marginalized communities. They run Project Umang for children in need of care and protection in conjunction with Childline They also run project HAPPY (Health Action Program for Progress of Youth) with the TATA Institute of Social Sciences and Deepam Educational Society for Health (DESH). Their TB protection programme provided assistance to patients right from the diagnosis step, including providing them adequate nutrition. Their Income generation programme not only provides financial assistance to budding entrepreneurs in slums, but also gives them business management lessons and saving techniques to improve their business acumen. NSVK’s main ideology is to involve community members in their development programmes and hand the ownership of these programmes to them completely when the programmes take off. As of now, NSVK has helped more than 5000 children, 18600 women and 48000 TB Patients and intends to touch a lot more lives, and would greatly appreciate any contribution to this mission.
