One in every 50 people in India is affected by intellectual disability and 84% of the children at Jai Vakeel with intellectual disability come from our country's poorest families. Due to financial constraints and social taboos, many of these children are abandoned, abused or simply ignored. With your support, Jai Vakeel Foundation is able to give these children and their families the help they desperately need to live a fulfilling life.
Over the last three years I have worked very closely with Jai Vakeel students - I have organised and taken part in collaborative and skill-building activities with Jai Vakeel students, taken them on educational trips and also organised fun fairs for them.
Over the three years, I learned far more from Jai Vakeel students than they may have learned from me; Jai Vakeel students have made me far more grateful for the simple things I take for granted on a daily basis.
The truth is - I would do anything to see wide smiles on their faces.
We, you and I, have the power to make a positive change in the lives of young, capable, bright and inspirational students.
