I am Sapana Raykwar, living in Avantika Nagar a small basti (slum) of Indore. Residents of our basti live with many problems. Our basti based is surrounded by many small scale factories. Mostly slum dwellers are working there. UHRC supports our community through women’s and children’s groups and capacity building sessions for women and children other than group members also. We raise our voice for community problems and have submitted applications of different type of issues like education scholarship, paving of slum laves, garbage bin, general use and drinking water supply to concerned departments. UHRC continuously guides us and helps to improve our inner confidence and skills. We realise that we have become far more strong and improved our thinking capacity and decision making power.
UHRC conducts many fruitful activities with us children and women towards enhancing our knowledge capacity. We visit places outside our basti and also outside our city with UHRC's support and learn a lot, perform street plays (nukkad natak) at famous locations in Indore to raise social issues before the general public.
