Who We Are
Sanjeevani is an award-winning, non-profit, registered Public Trust working in the domain of integrated cancer care, from prevention and early detection to providing counselling and rehabilitation for people battling the illness. Our aim is to help underprivileged cancer patients navigate the path to recovery by adopting a holistic and comprehensive approach.
A serving bureaucrat, Ruby Ahluwalia was diagnosed with Stage III Breast Cancer in 2009. But her own unwavering resolve and the constant support from her family helped Ruby fight back her cancer and recover completely. After completing her treatment, Ruby decided to set up Sanjeevani in 2012 with the aim of easing the extreme levels of agony faced by cancer patients in their journey to good health.
The emotional and physical pain, as well as the financial stress of battling cancer, prompted her to begin a new chapter in her own Life Beyond Cancer.
Started in 2012 with one program at one centre in Mumbai, today Sanjeevani helps patients thru its 17 centres spread across 12 states Mumbai, Nagpur and Wardha (Maharashtra); Jaipur and Bikaner (Rajasthan); Ahmedabad and Surat (Gujarat); Kolkata (Bengal); Goa (Goa); Delhi (Delhi); Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), Bangalore (Karnataka), Guwahati (Assam), Hyderabad (Telangana), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and Puducherry (UT).
We have worked with more than 2,50,000 underprivileged patients to date.
We offer our 11 programs free of cost to the beneficiaries and through these interventions, we support them for their entire life.

To fight Cancer, one needs a strong body and mind.
A health emergency like the Pandemic made the situation worse for cancer patients.
In such a crisis, the only thing that could rescue these cancer patients was their self Immunity.
Sanjeevani Life Beyond Cancer worked online with thousands of patients throughout the year, helping them improve immunity while at home.
In line with the ethos of Sanjeevani's Holistic Healing Initiative Satori - that the body has the ability to heal itself when given the tools it needs to do so, the CanAhaar โ A Nutritional Supplement Initiative was launched to help them meet their nutrition needs
The Nutritional Supplement Box provided under the CanAhaar Program is a specially crafted one containing mixed nuts, Jaggery, puffed rice, chikki, turmeric and spices (cinnamon, clove, peppercorns) to meet their nutritional needs.
Each box costs around Rs 250/-

Fund Utilization in 2020
Total funds raised in 2020 - INR 1122200
Project Name | Satori: A Wellness Initiative by Sanjeevani Life Beyond Cancer |
Amount Utilized (INR) | 1122200 |
Project Description | A uni-dimensional focus on biomedical treatments creates a vacuum for patients and a need for complementary therapeutic interventions that are holistic and scientifically driven.
Sanjeevani fills this vacuum by providing the Wellness Program that focuses on helping cancer patients and survivors cope with their condition through the promotion of overall mental and physical well-being, thus helping them to lead a better quality of life post-treatment and strengthening of the immunity system.
This program is built on the belief that immunity has a huge role to play in the fight against cancer. Strengthening the immunity of people affected by cancer through diet, breathing exercises and addressing their primary mental constructs is the backbone of this program delivered through a 36 session course.
The objectives:
1. To impart skills & understanding to help cancer patients deal with the side effects of modern medicine in a better way
2. Equip them with skill sets to take responsibility of their own health and build up their immunity systems;
3. Leading them to a better quality of life not only during treatment but post-treatment also.
4. When practised consistently it can lead considerably reduce chances of recurrence of cancer in patients.
This program is offered free of cost to all cancer patients. |

Beneficiary Description | Sanjeevani has been running this program at Mumbai, Bikaner, Jaipur and Ahmedabad for the past 4 years and the same has enriched lives of over 6000 beneficiaries since its inception.
The group of beneficiaries primarily consists of cancer patients and their caregivers, ranging roughly from an age group of 20 - 75 years. Since our work is not limited to a specific type of cancer, we tend to patients, both women and men, suffering from different types of cancer.
Our plan is to work with 5000 additional patients, this year, across the country. |
Impact | The program is open to all cancer patients and their caregivers.
The third-party impact evaluation was commissioned to evaluate the effectiveness of the program in yielding a better quality of life for patients. The study was conducted by M/s Monk Prayogshala.
The efficacy/impact of this Program was measured prospectively at baseline and at end of intervention through a mixed-methods approach using standard questionnaires; the primary goal being to examine whether this intervention helped regulate physical and affective states of participants enrolled in the program.
As a result of the Wellness Program, participants reported:
โข Lower negative affect
โข Improved physical, cognitive, and social functioning
โข Lower physical pain and discomfort
โข Lower stress concerning finances
โข Improvement in overall physical and mental health
โข High satisfaction with program teachings and overall quality of care
The evaluation of SanjeevaniโฆLife Beyond Cancerโs Wellness Program unearthed the importance of a well-rounded holistic intervention emphasising on both physical and mental health aspects of the fight against cancer.
Overall, the participantsโ physical, cognitive and social functioning improved, and they reported positive mental health at the end of their sessions. |
