Who We Are

Late Sunil Dutt founded Nargis Dutt Foundation in 1981 after Nargis Dutt succumbed to Pancreatic Cancer.
It’s been 36 years since Nargis Dutt left us, and over this period, the Foundation has worked towards treatment of individuals suffering from cancer and other diseases, creation of awareness about the disease, education of the underprivileged especially the girl child, empowerment of women, development of tribal areas, support during national calamities, adoption of rural schools and much more.

Mission Statement :
We believe, no lives should be lost due to unaffordability of medical treatment and no child should be deprived of a good education due to lack of funds.

Project DescriptionWe believe the future belongs to our educated youth. The children in rural areas have the passion to learn but have access to minimal to no resource. Our foundation aims to address the scenario of dismal infrastructure, so that these children can benefit from education, and subsequently, gain access to optimum job opportunities leading to a brighter life.

In 2015, Nargis Dutt Foundation adopted the Zilla Parishad School in Borichapada, Sonave Village, Palghar. The school is situated in the tribal belt of Saphale. Nargis Dutt Foundation empowered this school with a computer lab, e-learning facilities, clean sanitation by building toilets, built extra classrooms, provided clean drinking water and supported extracurricular activities in sports and music. In short, the Nargis Dutt Foundation has developed a role model school which it’ll be replicating in neighboring villages. There are a number of Zilla Parishad Schools and Semi Private schools in Palghar that lack the basic amenities of clean drinking water and sanitation. We have identified several schools that can benefit from our Model School Initiative.
