Currently we have 23 centres (7 from Vernacular medium school and 16 from English medium school) reaching out to about 730 children. These Balwadi centres are pre-school centres being run by trained local woman for children in the 3 to 6 year age group in BMC schools.
The Balwadi centres aim to provide a mechanism through which communities can secure the holistic development of their young children without compromising on the quality of service provided. Through its Balwadi program, CHIP Mumbai aims to assist the physical, emotional and cognitive development of children and give them greater opportunity for making a brighter future for themselves.
