Project Description | Due to Pandemic, last year the students were unable to come to our vocational centres. So we decided to shift our courses online. Overnight we decided to train our teachers in use of technology like google meet, and use of Laptops, phones to teach online, as we didn't want our slum women to lose out on their skill training programs.
The second hurdle was reaching out to our student beneficiaries. Even in normal times, these girls/ women, though they are desirous of studying and learning skills, are not allowed by their families to study and / or learn. In the pandemic it was much more difficult as they did not have access to phones, and or data packs. So we decided to approach our donors for smartphones/ tabs and for data packs, We supplied these at convenient places in the community where these women could come at a suitable time in batches to take online classes.
Apart from this, we supplied Ration kits to needy families of daily wagers who lost their jobs and earnings. These kits of Rs. 1000/- each had enough ration items to help a family of 4 for at least 15 days. |

Around 1447 youth especially women were trained during the last year despite the constraints. Many of them are able to take up jobs from home. It also created a sense to empowerment that even during the pandemic, DBM has stood by its students and helped them with whatever was needed.
