Aligned to the following Sustainable Development Goals

Who We Are

Based in Mumbai, with a Global Vision, Touching Lives is a non-profit organization working towards Learning, Healing, Art, Technology and Life-Skills for the children, youth and parents living in slum communities.

Founded in 2003 by Sonia Mackwani with the value – ‘it is our need to serve than saying we are serving the needy’, Touching Lives is guided by the mantras of Self-work*, Seva (service) and Sadhana (practice).

The challenges that children from slum communities face are unique and complex. Thus, it is necessary to take a ‘therapeutic and holistic approach’ along with supplementary support for their academics.

Our team of qualified, skilled and dedicated tribe of professionals who work tirelessly to provide the best education to children.

PANDEMIC INTERVENTIONS
Currently, we run our learning programs 100% online. The children are provided with Tabs and Smart Phones to avail the education. This has opened the door for children across India to be a part of our programs.

GOAL 2023-2024
Our goal is to support the holistic education of 160 students and to provide mental-health workshops to 40 parents annually.

Touching Lives has been working incessantly for the past 19 years, contributing positively to the lives of thousands of individuals.

ImpactOur student Ram Soni, who works with the team now to provide Learning and Healing to other children in the communities:

I am a psychology graduate and last year, I completed my education in Art Based Therapy and Clinical Hypnotherapy. I also work as a Healer at Touching Lives Learning Center and support my family financially.

I live in Indira nagar slum community in Dahisar. I studied in a Hindi medium Municipal school. When I was in school, I was told that I also have to become a vegetable vendor like my father and I had dropped out of school twice to earn money. But I was determined that I want to study and I persisted with the support of Touching Lives. I was supported in all the aspects of my life- My school and college studies, Admissions, Sponsorships for coaching, My Relationships, and My Life Goals.
Didi and Sir always provided love and care to me as if they are my real family.
