Apnalaya in its fifteith year has been working with the urban poor through three verticals - Health & Disability, Education & Livelihood and Citizenship & Advocacy. Our innovative urban health care model uses technological tools to focus on maternal health and nutrition; including early pregnancy identification, using technology to identify high-risk pregnancies and uptake of ante and post-natal public health services.

It seeks to break the cycle of inter-generational poor health and one of the way which this is done is through an intensive programe working with pregnant women and their families. We also emphasize capacity building of community health workers and providing diagnostic kits to the government healthcare facility. Apnalaya’s model ensures sustainable care by linking the existing government healthcare to the urban poor community.

We engage with over 19000 pregnant women and 10000 lactating mothers annualy. Around 20% of the pregnancies registered with us fall under high risk category which require additional care and support. With the help of the funds raised through this initiative, we will reach 1000 pregnant women.
