About Us
COOJ Mental Health Foundation (COOJ) is a registered Charitable Trust (Reg. Number 2211/02) that works towards promoting mental health in Goa. Since our inception, we have been reaching out to people who have been affected with mental illness or disability. We operate projects under 4 major mental health needs: Psychosocial rehabilitation, Suicide Prevention, Geriatric & Dementia Care and Community Mental health. As part of our work we run mental health clinics, day care centers, support groups, conduct rural camps, workshops, awareness programs and a suicide prevention helpline, besides advocating the rights of persons with mental illness.

Raising Funds for
Geriatric and Dementia Care Program
The Geriatric and Dementia Care Program was started in 2014, with the main goal of improving the overall wellbeing of the geriatric population and providing clinical as well as rehabilitation services for those living with dementia and other mental health issues. Our current work is to provide therapeutic interventions planned specifically for disabilities that accompany normal aging, as well as mental illnesses and dementia. We provide a platform for the elderly to enable social connectedness, remove isolation and to maintain their sense of purpose through skill enhancement and development. We work with their caregivers to reduce their level of burden.
One of our biggest challenges is transporting seniors to our 2 centres located in each district of Goa. Presently they come on their own which becomes unaffordable to many thereby many opt out of the program. We propose to purchase a vehicle and employ a driver to address this need.
