About Me

My name is Shabnam Verma. I am working with Urban Health Resource Center since fifteen years. I strongly believe in empowerment through capacity building and education and am actively involved in fundraising for this cause. Over the years I have seen the impact that even a small contribution can make a big difference, be it skills, money or time.

At events such as women’s conclave, children’s conclave, street play and group songs for awareness, sports days, I see the talent that each woman and child has and realizes that my modest role is truly changing these children's lives. That is why I have decided to raise funds for UHRC this year.

Appeal

About 10, 00,000 of Indore's population live in bastis (slums) where there lack of basic amenities, low access to entitlements, vulnerable living conditions and domestic abuse. Women need money for family’s basic needs and many are trapped in money lender cycles. Children drop out of schools and often move to support their parents in household chores and livelihood activities. They do not receive education and opportunities that each child MUST receive, hence feel hopeless about their futures.
This is where Urban Health Resource Center comes in and provides these children, women and families the tools they need to break out of their poverty cycle. These 'tools' are things we take for granted – sensitization towards education, activities to enhance self-reliance and self-confidence and a nurturing environment that allows them to believe in themselves and thrive.

By supporting Urban Health Resource Centre and donating to their cause, you will give a child a chance to receive good education, fulfill dreams and achieve her/his goals and a woman to move forward to access the basic living needs. These women and children lack opportunity, not talent and hard work. Urban Health Resource Center not only strengthens them, but gives them voice and a hope-filled future.
